Nancy Clark's coffee shop

I now have some work exhibited locally in a coffee shop called Nancy Clark's
in Kirkcaldy, just off the High Street. The work on show at the moment is
a mix of old drawings and textile work which was framed a while back. I have this
space for a while so I intend on using it as a roll on showcase of my work, going from old to
new. My big plan for the beginning of this year is to complete 20 small pieces which will
be framed and up for sale in the shop as soon as they are all completed. Please visit the
coffee shop to see my work. You can find a map showing the whereabouts of the coffee shop below.
I'd love to hear what you think so feel free to comment.

new work

I've been working with silver and coloured pens and pencils to enhance a textured
batik piece and am quite pleased with the results. this one is now ready for framing and
will be part of a set of 20 I am planning to exhibit very soon. Let me know what you think! I have also used silver thread, oh so much fun!

Batik work 2008

I have started creating and experimenting with wax and papers. So far it's been successful
with some interesting effects being created. My aim this year is to complete around 20 framed pieces that would be displayed together in small frames (see the main part on my website for similar previous work). Working with wax and coloured dyes I have been mark making and using brushstrokes to create large textural pieces which then will be used for smaller work. Here are some small batik sections that will be used in current work. I hope to use these with embroidery and eventually intend to manipulate them digitally.

Today I was in Edinburgh admiring the work of Joan Eardley. I particularly like the way she uses collage and type in her backgounds and it is something I would like to develop further in my textural work. I also love her landscapes with a passion. Her use of colour, markmaking and composition is amazing and very inspiring. I particularly like 'Field of Barley by the Sea' and 'Harvest'. At last I'm inspired again!
